Butter's Tor

Dog walking at Butter's Tor

Getting to Butter Tor can be a bit tricky and I would not advise it for people with low cars as you have to go through two potentially deep and steep fords. Once at the parking spot however, you’ll see an idyllic meadow with two small streams crossing it and old bridges that have fallen into disrepair. Making your way towards the Tor you’ll cross over a lovely bridge and into the moors where sheep and horses will probably greet you. This is the main reason I do not do doggy daycare or dog walker business here as the dogs would be kept on the lead

Once on the moors proper you can start making your way up Butter Tor which is quite the steep climb. It is worth it however, because at the top you will be provided with views of the two highest peaks in Cornwall and in the other direction Bude and Dartmoor. I love being a dog walker in this area because I can see all of North Cornwall and parts of Devon from 1 spot!
